What we do

North Clearing, by LPT & Co.

SENIOR WORK, NO SENIOR SEAT

The work that keeps an organisation running is rarely the work anyone was hired to do.

The board package, the funder report, the quarterly review, the intake that has to be underwritten by Thursday. It lands on the executive director, the CAO, the founder, or on someone who already has three jobs. It gets done late, or thin, or not at all. North Clearing exists for that category of work: senior enough that it cannot be delegated down, standing enough that it cannot be projectised, and not large enough on its own to justify a full-time hire.

embedded, not episodic

North Clearing is LPT & Co.'s fractional COO and embedded operations practice.

Every engagement is led by a senior operator who has run the equivalent function in industry. They own the relationship, stay on the file, and remain the point of accountability throughout. Standing capacity, not project sprints: we stay through the work, hold the calendar, and remain available between meetings. You do not chase updates. You receive them. The engineering is in-house. LPT & Co. ships two of its own platforms, Second Cut and Mezzura, sold as products in their own right. When an engagement calls for a custom system, automation or workflow, we design and deploy it ourselves rather than routing you to a third-party build shop.

Who we built this for

North Clearing is for the people who carry the organisation.

For the executive director whose funder expects more every year from the same three people. For the CAO holding a file that two governments have to run together. For the founder whose company outgrew the systems it was built on. For the community lender whose intake and underwriting have to happen every week regardless of who is on holiday. For the board that wants to arrive at a decision, not a recap. If you answer for an organisation, this was built for you.

IN PRACTICE, PORT LANDS

One asset, two owners, one team running the operations between them.

Cornwall Port Lands is a sixteen-acre waterfront site on the St Lawrence River, jointly held by two co-owners whose principals are the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the City of Cornwall. LPT & Co. is the site's Manager under a three-year service agreement. The co-owners retain every decision; we run everything between them: legal and tenancy, financial reconstruction and federal compliance, environmental and title, governance, procurement, and operations. Where work has to survive a personnel change or an election on either side, we hold the continuity.

HOW WE PRICE

Two models, chosen to fit the shape of the work.

A fixed monthly fee for embedded operational leadership, priced to the seniority the work requires and the cadence of the engagement, reviewed annually. Hourly for project support that lives alongside a retainer or stands on its own, priced to the seniority of the operator doing the work. Second Cut, Mezzura, and any custom systems we build for you are priced separately, at platform or project rates. Actual numbers are scoped in a first conversation.

How the work runs

Senior capacity, held standing. Materials ready, meetings run, decisions captured.

Have a conversation. Twenty minutes: what is the work, who is doing it now, and what would change if you had standing senior capacity holding it. Get a scope. A written proposal with the shape of the engagement, the cadence, and the fee. Nothing to sign yet. Start. The first month is a defined onboarding. Then the engagement runs, reviewed quarterly.
